Thiruvalluvar University is a state university established by the Government of Tamil Nadu in October 2002 under the Thiruvalluvar University Act, 2002. It is located at Serkadu near Vallimalai, approximately 16 km from Vellore city, on the Ranipet–Chittoor road.

The university has a campus spread across approximately 112.68 acres and focuses on higher education, teaching, research, and extension activities. Its academic departments include Tamil, English, Economics, Zoology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Commerce, Physics, Biotechnology, Sociology, Microbiology and Environmental Science, among others.
